Jesus’ response tells us about God’s call on us regarding how to resolve conflicting claims. Jesus upholds God’s Law-word as the standard by which we measure claims. During the time of the Reformation this principle was called Sola Scriptura: the Scriptures alone are the only infallible rule for faith and practice.
