Imagine you own a horse who needs medical attention. You hire a guy who says on his website that he has years of experience treating horses. He shows up to your farm, whizzes past your horse who is obviously injured, and goes to work on one of the nearby goats. For the health and safety of your horse, you should politely ask him to leave, as a horse doctor who can’t recognize a horse is not the guy you want for the job.
In the same way, those leading the charge in the #MeToo and #ChurchToo movement couldn’t recognize a Biblical sexual ethic if it was a giant injured horse falling over in front of them. The conversation around abuse in churches online is largely unhelpful and no one needed a goat doctor to arrive on the scene any way.
What do you need to know about the #ChurchToo movement so that you can be ready to teach your daughters (who will definitely come across it if they are on social media) and be helpful to your sisters in the pew? Let’s chat.
